Policies & Guidelines

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Community Calendar is to promote events and activities of general interest and benefit to the residents of De Leon. It aims to provide a valuable resource for residents to find and participate in local happenings. 

2. Eligibility

To be eligible for inclusion on the community calendar, events must meet the following criteria:

  • Open to the Public: The event must be accessible to all members of the general public.
  • Non-Commercial: Events should not be primarily focused on advertising or selling products or services. Fundraisers for registered non-profit organizations are generally accepted.
  • Community-Oriented: The event should be of general interest to the community and contribute to the local culture, education, or well-being.
  • Location: Events must take place within the De Leon Community.
  • Legal: Events must be lawful and comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. 

3. Unacceptable submissions

The following types of events are generally not permitted on the community calendar:

  • Commercial advertisements or promotions.
  • Private events not open to the general public.
  • Content that promotes discrimination, hate speech, or illegal activities.
  • Events containing obscene, profane, or sexually explicit content or links.
  • Content that violates intellectual property rights or compromises public safety or security.
  • Regularly occurring weekly activities, unless specifically designed as special community events.

4. Submission process

  • Submissions are accepted through the online form at De Leon Community Calendar.
  • Provide accurate and complete information, including:
    • Event title
    • Date(s) and time(s) (including start and end times)
    • Location (full street address)
    • Brief description (1-2 sentences) of the event
    • Public contact information (phone number, email address, and/or website link for attendees seeking more information)
    • Internal contact information (name, email, and phone number for calendar administration staff; will not be published)
    • A high-resolution image or graphic representing the event is encouraged (not a full flyer).
  • Submissions should be made by the event organizer or an authorized representative. 

5. Deadlines and review

  • Events should be submitted at least one week prior to the event date.
  • Submissions are reviewed before being approved to ensure compliance with this policy.
  • Event information can be edited for clarity, grammar, length, or style.
  • Submitting an event does not guarantee its inclusion on the calendar. Events may be declined or removed at discretion.
  • Approved events are typically posted within 2-3 business days of approval. 

6. Disclaimer

The De Leon Community Calendar is provided as a service to residents and organizations. The accuracy of the information provided in event listings is not endorsed or verified. The event organizer is solely responsible for ensuring the legality and safety of the event and for handling any necessary permits, insurance, or other logistical requirements. 

7. Modifications

This policy may be amended at any time at the discretion of the Developing De Leon Today board. Revisions will be posted on the community calendar website.
